1st International Symposium on Big Data in Cloud and Services Computing Applications (DaSCA'19)

Leipzig, Germany, 1 - 4 September, 2019

Big Data has received increasing attention in recent years, as organizations and cities are dealing with tremendous amounts of data with high complexity and velocity. These data are fast moving and changing  in value, meaning and format. They also can originate from various sources, such as social networks, unstructured data from different devices or raw feeds from sensors. It, thus, challenges traditional data management approaches and tools related to performance, integration and analytics. One of the key challenges is how to use Cloud and Services Computing to process Big Data, build effective cloud applications, and provide service-based data analytics. However, there exists particularly limited knowledge on how to apply the Big Data technologies into Cloud and Services Computing applications. Therefore, this Special Session aims to discuss Big Data in Cloud and Services Computing Applications, and particularly focuses on the Big Data research from cloud and service-based perspectives. It also covers many dimensions of big data technologies, including system aspects, algorithmic,  privacy  and  security,  computational  intelligence  and  innovative applications.

Provision of the above topics presents a new set of emerging issues and challenges that are expected to be identified by the research community. Therefore, we aim to provide a platform for discussing approaches, models, results and case studies or experience reports addressing a broad range of issues related to Big Data in Cloud and Services Computing Applications. Therefore, this special session intends to build a foundation for further empirical research to understand Big Data and its implications for Cloud and Services Computing Applications. Papers can include and discuss various research methods and can be based on case studies, quantitative methods, design science. In addition, practical oriented research and experience reports are encouraged.
